The Thai Terrace
(Thai)
7th Floor, Castle Car Park,
Sydenham Road, Guildford, GU1 3RT, T: 01483 503350
One of the best restaurants in
Guildford, the Thai Terrace is literally on the top
floor of a car park - providing views across the town
from the terrace itself!
The food is reliably good, and not too pricey for a
'posh' night out. |
Thai food is well-known
for being hot and spicy and for its balance of five
fundamental flavours in the overall meal - hot (spicy),
sour, sweet, salty, and bitter (optional).
Although popularly considered as a single cuisine, Thai
food would be more accurately described as four regional
cuisines corresponding to the four main regions of the
country: Northern, North Eastern (or Isan), Central, and
Southern - each cuisine sharing similar foods or derived
from those of neighboring countries. A curry from the
south, for example, tends to contain coconut milk and
fresh turmeric, while north eastern dishes often include
lime juice. |
